UPDATE… HOMESCHOOL DAY AT SCIENCE MUSEUM OF WESTERN VIRGINIA

Dear Homeschooling Families,

I wanted to let you know of an exciting new opportunity at the Science Museum of Western Virginia.  On Wednesday, February 18, we will be offering an exclusive homeschool day, filled with special programming for all ages.  You will also have a chance to see our new exhibit Dinosaurs and Fossils.

Homeschooling families who come to the museum on the afternoon of February 18 will receive a special discounted rate for admission to our museum and to our butterfly garden.  We will also be offering hands-on programs, led by our experienced educators, at a variety of different age levels; a chance to pan for gems and minerals at our rock sluice; and a special presentation of our planetarium show Journey Through the Stars (all these programs will be available for an extra fee).

You do not need to pre-register for this event, but space in our hands-on programs and planetarium show will be limited, so we suggest arriving at the Science Museum between 1pm and 1:30pm on February 18 to ensure that you will be able to participate in the programs of your choice.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Miriam Musco, Director of Education at the Science Museum of Western Virginia, at 540-342-5776 or mmusco@smwv.org.  We hope you will be able to join us on February 18 for our inaugural homeschooling event!

Please note:  The exhibit Dinosaurs and Fossils contains information about human evolution and makes reference to the age of the Earth as 4.54 billion years old.  If you are concerned about any of the content of this exhibit, a member of the Science Museum’s front desk staff will be able to help you plan your exploration of this exhibit to avoid these sections.

Miriam Musco, Director of Education

Visit SMWV online here for further details or email Miriam Musco here if you have further questions.
