Update… GBCHE BOOK SALE & FLEA MARKET

Greater Bedford Christian Home Educators has rented the Bedford Farmers Market on June 5, 2013 from 9a-2p for an educators sale. Folks may come and set up booths to sell books, desks, supplies, and anything else that might be of interest to homeschoolers or educators of any kind. Update… SPRING PERFORMANCES

Spring performances are coming up from the TLC Homeschool Co-op and Friday Arts & Fun Theatre group at Home Front Educators. TLC will be presenting Anne of Green Gables on May 16, 2013 and HFE will be presenting Corrie Ten Boom: A Place to Hide on May 16-18, 2013. Visit our Spring Performances post here for details.

HOMESCHOOLING 101

New or considering home education? Have homeschool questions? If so, you may want to attend Homeschooling 101 class on May 23, 2013. Childcare is available and all who have questions regarding home education are encouraged to attend this informative class. The panel discussion will also include answering attendee questions. PACERS CROSS-COUNTRY KICK-OFF

The Patriot Pacers (formerly Peaks View Pacers) middle & high school cross-country teams will be having their annual kick-off meeting on May 17, 2013. This will be a potluck dinner with information regarding the Pacers, including registration, and their merger with Lynchburg Home School Athletic Association (LHSAA). Updated… ELECTIVES ACADEMY – NEW FOR FALL 2013

A big welcome going out to Electives Academy, Lynchburg’s newest homeschool co-op. EA will meet Thursdays at West Lynchburg Baptist Church and is electives-focused offering elective courses and other classes that support core curriculum studies that are being undertaken in the home. Their website will be online shortly, but you can connect with them right now via their Facebook Group here. EA is listed on our Local Organizations webpage and it will be updated with their website once available.

Update: Interested but have questions and/or not sure if you want to commit just yet? Electives Academy will be holding an informational meeting on May 30, 2013 at 10am. The EA planning team will be sharing their vision, giving tours of the facility, and answering any questions you may have about this exciting new endeavor. BOOK SIGNING AT UTSA BOOK SALE

The folks at Under the Son Academy homeschool co-op have added a Local Author Book Signing to their annual Used Curriculum & Book Sale and New Member Registration event on May 15, 2013. Updated… CENTRAL VIRGINIA HOMESCHOOL PROM

Tickets are still on sale for the Central Virginia Homeschool Prom held Friday, May 10, 2013. Visit the CVHP post here for details. CVHP prefers tickets be purchased prior to May 1st, but they can sell until they give the venue a final headcount on May 6th. Update: Tickets on sale through Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

30th ANNUAL VIRGINIA HOMESCHOOL CONVENTION

Registration is still open for the Home Educators Association of Virginia annual convention held in Richmond on June 6-8, 2013. Visit the HEAV Convention post here for details.

SUMMERTIME BIBLE STUDY FOR TEENS

John and Kristel Knaus, local home educators, will be offering a teen Bible study at their home this summer. The kick-off meeting is May 14, 2013 and formal meetings begin May 27, 2013. This looks to be a great opportunity for teens. Visit our news post for Late-April here for details.
